Most cars can be beautiful for many reasons. (but if you’re a Versa, too bad) For some, the silhouette of a car makes a car stunning to look at, or more dramatic. Others may think that the addition of aero fins or sculpted vents adds to a car’s appeal. You could even say that the details of little things like speaker grilles in an S-Class make the car. So what say you, Oppo? Feel free to post an example of your preferred styling element as well.

The need to fit a bigger hood to fit the engine in.

This spot right here.

Something about this luscious curve around the rear wheel on many Grand Tourers and even some sedans at the hips makes me drool a little.

I think too many elements makes the car ugly! Start with a beautiful silhouette and don't muck it up. Many of these popular design elements today are trying to hide ugly silhouettes caused by crash test or economic requirements.

Good wheel fitment is important. Not lowered per se, but the car must look right with its wheels. examples of cars that bug me:

There was an Oppo post a while back that said it's all about the driver positioning. I would say proportion is the strongest element.

I agree, the right wheel & tire fitment can make even boring cars look good

if you compared only cars with 4 doors, or only cars with 2 doors, your argument might be compelling, but you are comparing apples and oranges here.

This rule obviously doesn’t apply to cabovers or some landyachts with ridiculously long rear overhangs.

The Camry driver is close to the center. The driver in the cabover and the Cadillac are on one distinct half of the side profile.

For some reason this:

I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe because it looks like it’s from the future, or from a science fiction movie or something.

Gladly.

I’d love to build my own version of it. Maybe less the amphibious bits, though. The idea of designing/finding watertight bearings perplexes me.
